This
is the place where you can read up on interesting historical facts
about the Chebucto Minor Hockey Association and the various people
who have helped it become what it is today.
This
is an ongoing 'work-in-progress', and we welcome your input.
If you have any interesting facts about our association, we would
love to hear from you. Please send your information to COMMUNICATIONS@CHEBUCTOMINORHOCKEY.COM.
In
the early 60's Spryfield, Armdale, and Herring Cove Minor Hockey all
started as different associations. Spryfield Minor Hockey played out
of the Civic and Forum, Herring Cove played out of the Dalhousie
Arena, and Armdale played out of the Forum, St. Mary's, and Centennial.
In
the mid 1970's Spryfield Minor Hockey and Armdale Minor Hockey
joined together. Players from Herring Cove weren't allowed to play
because the league was supported by a grant from the city and Herring
Cove was a part of the county at the time.
On
November 27th, 1972 the Spryfield Lions Rink opened. On November
29th, 1997 the rink was dedicated to Frank "Wee" Martin.
The registration fee was $20 a player, with the Cormier Family rate
$50 because they had 5 players. The original number of players was
120, all playing in "House League" only. The first team
jerseys were long sleeve T-Shirts borrowed from the city.
Over
the years, patches have been issued for various teams, divisions,
and tournaments. Thanks to Randy Morgan and Peter MacKinnon, we
have these images to share with you.

Chebucto
continues to maintain the nautical, lighthouse theme in it's
logos. The current logos for the association and it's
competitive teams are :

the change comes into effect, families already playing in TASA will
have the option of staying in TASA or coming to Chebucto for the

-
Families
registering for the first time for the 09/10 season must register in
Chebucto Minor Hockey.
These
changes do not impact the coming season.
